Obturator Hernia:Value of Multi-slice CT Applications

Objective To explore the value of multi-slice computed tomography in the preoperative diagnosis of obturator hernia and to enhance the understanding of obturator hernia.Methods Five cases with obdurate hernia confirmed by surgery were retrospective analyzed,All cases were undergone the MSCT examination and the multi-planar reconstructions(MPR).The focus of analysis was laid in the location,morphology,density and secondary signs of the obturator hernia.Result Each of five patients with obturator hernia was emaciated eldly patients.The hernia sac located in the sulcusobturatorius or located between the pectineus and obturator externus muscles in four patients,between the superior and medial fasciculi of the obturator externus muscle in one patient.All contents were small intestine,presented as a low-density mass in the location or appeared as low density core with equaldensity circle.All of the patients have intestinal obstruction performance.Conclusion MSCT examination is an effective modality for obturator hernia,especially for elder and emaciated patients with intestine obstruction due to unknown reason.MSCT examination is helpful for the diagnosis of obturator hernia.
