Gemcitabine combined with cisplatin in the treatment of drug resistant advanced breast cancer

Objective To evaluate the efficacy and safety of combination chemotherapy of gemcitabine(GEM) and eisplatin(DDP) for anthraeyeine and paclitaxel-resistant advanced breast cancer.Methods 42 patients with anthraeyeine and paclitaxel-resistant advanced breast cancer were collected from June 2008 to June 2010.They were treated with combination chemotherapy of GEM 1 000 mg/m2 d1,d8 and DDP 75mg/m2 d1-d3.Their curative effects in the near future and venenous reaction were estimated after four or six cycles.Results The overall response rate was 35.7%(15/42).The main side effect included gastrointestinal and hematologic toxicities,neutropenia was 78.6%,and thrombocytopenia was 73.8%.Conclusion The combination GEM and DDP is effective in drug resistant breast cancer with an tolerated toxicity pattern.
