| Abstract: | Objective：To analyse effect of phacoemulsification（PHACO） and intraocular lens（IOL） implantation on treating patients with diabetes mellilus.Methods：PHACO and IOL implantation were performed on 97（106 eyes） diabetics and 99（109 eyes） nondiabetics patients.The therapeutic effect was compared.Results：There was no significant difference in incidence of postoperative complications.The postoperative corrected visual acuities of 0.5 or better were achieved in 49（46.23%） of diabetic eyes and in 64（59.26%）of nondiabetic eyes（P〉0.05）.Conclusions：For diabetics patients with cataract,who are under control by diet or hypoglycemic agent,and have stable blood glucose level for a period of time without other systemic and ocular complications,PHACO and IOL implantation is safe and reliable treatment.But proliferative retinopathy is contraindicative for this treatment |
