Clinical Study of Bronchiectasis Accompanying with Allergic Disease

Abstract:Objective] To explore the role of allergic reaction in bronchiectasis in order to understand the status of bronchiectasis patients accompanying with allergic disease. Methods] The allergen skin prick test (SPT) and concomitant other diseases of respiratory system in 193 bronchiectasis patients were comparatively studied. Results]The positive rate of allergen SPT in bronchiectasis patients was 45.1%. The main allergens were dust mite, cockroach, dog dander, fungi, wormwood and shrimp, which accounted for 91.9%, 34.5%, 26.4%, 16.1%, 14.9% and 14.9%, respectively. Patients with allergy of single mite, two mites and three mites accounted for 8.8%, 30% and 61.2%, respectively. Among 193 bronchiectasis patients, the patients complicated with bronchial asthma, rhinitis and bronchiectasis alone accounted for 39. 4%, 45. 6% and 35.8%, respectively. And 11 patients were complicated with other lung diseases. There was no significant difference in the positive rate of SPT between male and female patients in all groups. The positive rate of SPT in the group of bronchiectasis with asthma was 69. 7%, and that in the group of bronchiectasis with rhinitis was 73.9%, and that in bronchiectasis alone group was 24. 6%. The positive rate of SPT in the groups of bronchiectasis with asthma and bronchiectasis with rhinitis were significantly higher than that in bronchiectasis alone group(x^2 = 29. 458, X^2 = 37. 562, all P 〈0. 01). There was no significant difference in the positive rate of SPT between the group of bronchiectasis with asthma and the group of bronchiectasis with rhinitis(x^2 = 0. 344, P 〉0.05). Conclusion]The incidence rate of bronchiectasis accompanying with allergic diseases increases ob- viously. Allergy reaction may play an important role in the genesis and development of bronchiectasis.
