ATHLETIC STRESS FRACTURES OF THE MEDIAL MALLEOLUS——A REPORT OF SIX CASES

Stress fractures of the medial malleolus are rarely seen in the past literature.The present article is a report of six cases with seven wounded joints. The clinical characteristics are: 1. All patients were young athletes. 2. All wounded sites were on the jumping foot during exercise. 3. All without obvious history of injury. 4. All were proved by roentgenography. 5. All responded satisfactorily to treatment. Mechanism, diagnosis, treatment and preventive measures of stress fractures ofthe medial malleolus are also briefly discussed in this article.
