Abstract: | An acute angle, <90 degrees, at the origin of the internal carotid artery from the common carotid artery poses a significant impediment to carotid artery stenting. We present a “balloon-assisted looping technique” that may facilitate successful crossing of the guidewire over this acute angle and enable successful carotid stenting in protected and unprotected endovascular procedures in patients with these challenging stenoses. |
