Division of Five Seasons According to Location and Disease Onset

Five seasons, i.e. spring, summer, long summer, autumn and winter, are divided according to the weather conditions in most areas of China. Since China is a big country, the division line between two seasons and the duration of each of the five seasons vary greatly in different areas. Therefore, it is necessary to consider the local conditions, such as its sunshine, temperature, humidity and responses of animals and plants before the division is made. The five visera of a human body are associated with the five Qi in the nature, and the onset and aggravation of viseral diseases are related to a certain degree to the changes of the five seasons. The authors analyzed the meteorological data of the last 28 years in the area of Hefei and the data of 17365 in-patients. Taking the area of Hefei as an example, the authors discuss the division of five seasons and its relation with the onset of diseases. The results provide a reference for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diseases.
