使用特制口腔装置从下颌最大前伸位的75%(F_(75)V_0)开始,依次调节至50%(F_(75)V_(50)),75%(F_(75)V_(75)),100%(F_(75)V_(100))的张开量处。

Abstract:Objective To examine adaptive changes in the cross-sectional area (CSA) of the upper airway during jaw opening; furthermore, to explore if these changes have any direct relationship with the morphological feature of the mandible. Methods 14 non-apneic adult males participated in the study. A custom-made oral device was used to keep the mandible in titrated jaw opening at 0%(F75 V0 ) , 50% (F75 V50), 75% (F75V75), 100% (F75 V100 ) of the maximum gape with 75% of the maximum advancement,. Magnetic resonance imaging was used to investigate the difference in the upper-airway CSA in 5 positions. To eliminate excessive individual influence, changes in the mean (mean%) and minimum (min%) CSA of the upper-airway were calculated as the percentage of the CSA at F0 V0. Cephalograms were taken to analyze the morphological feature of the mandible. Results and Conclusion The change in the upper-airway size varied individually during jaw-opening even with elimination of excessive individual influence. The changes of upper-airway showed significant associations with some morphological features of the mandible.
Keywords:Upper airway  Mandibular movement  Obstructive sleep apnea  Mandible  Magnetic resonance imaging  Cephalometry
