| Abstract: | Spider phobia is a kind of animal phobia in specific phobia,which belongs to the category of anxiety disorder and cannot be cured by drugs at present.Virtual reality exposure therapy(VRET)is a new intervention method that combines virtual reality(VR)technology with traditional exposure therapy.Due to its advantages of good curative effect,economic,safe,and controllable,VRET has been widely used in mental disorder studies.It has been reported that VRET can reduce patients'fear of spiders by adjusting virtual exposure stimuli,emotional regulation and changing unreasonable cognitive structure.Therefore,VRET is a promising intervention method for spider phobia.In order to better understand the application of VRET in spider phobia and advance this technology,this article reviews the research progress of VRET from several aspects,including the mechanism of action,application tools and development history. |
