On telemedicine and medical resource sharing

Telemedicine is the result of the combination of information technology and clinical medicine. This new type of medical treatment applies technology such as internet, telecommunication, multi-media and so on to cross the space limitation and thus achieve the goal of providing services like medical treatment, health care, teaching and so on. This technology has been developing overseas for almost forty years, while the domestic development didn＇t start until ten years ago and still hasn＇t been applied widely. This essay elaborates with examples on the significance of telemedicine such as sharing medical resources of high quality with backward hospitals, enabling patients to get immediate and high-level medical treatment as well as reducing the cost of high-quality services, broadeningthe horizon of medical personnel and helping them to accumulate experiences. With the gradual increase in the national budget for telemedicine, telemedicine is becoming part of our lives.
