Abstract:
This article discusses the results of systematic reviews and meta-analyses addressing short- and long-term outcomes of laparoscopic rectal surgery for rectal cancer. Randomized clinical trials investigating the advantages of the minimally invasive technique compared to open surgery will be critically reviewed.
