Abstract:Objective:To study the effects of homocysteine(Hcy) on endothelial cell secreting tissue-type plasminogen activator (t-PA) and plasminogen activator inhibitor(PAI-1). Methods:Cultured endothelial cell was exposed to Hey at the concentration of 0, 1 , 2. 5, 5 mmol for 2, 4, 8, 12 and 24 h respectively,in the end of each experiments,the morphological changes were observed and medium was collected to assay the concentration of t-PA and PAl-l. Results:Hcy may do an injury in the morphology of cultured endothelial cell. Endothelial cells' secreting t-PA and PAl-l were significantly increased in 1 mmol and 2. 5 mmol groups after 24 hours than those in o mmol group (p< 0. 05),and remarkably improved in 5 mmol group with 4 and 8 hours than those in o hour group(p<0. 05). Conclusion:Endothelial cell secreting t-PA and PAl-l imbalance may be one of the atherogenic mechanism of Hcy.
