| Abstract: | In acute stroke, early diagnosis, rapid thrombolysis and stroke unit treatment increase the chance of a favorable outcome. Emergency medical services are the first medical contact for most acute stroke patients, thereby playing a crucial role in the identification and treatment of acute stroke patients. In this article strategies that have been developed to reduce the time delay between stroke symptom onset and treatment in view of the narrow time window are discussed. The most important therapeutic aspects of prehospital treatment in patients with acute stroke are summarized. |
