Abstract: | A 67-year-old man was admitted with a postobstructive pneumonia of the right upper lobe of the lung. Initially neoplasm was considered, but eventually the obstruction proved to be a foreign body, more specifically, a tooth. Two years before, after an episode of pneumonia caused by anaerobic bacteria, he had been advised to have his remaining teeth extracted because of poor dentition. Hereafter the patient experienced several episodes of pneumonia in different lobes, both right and left sided which were due to the migrating foreign body in the bronchial tract. He recovered after bronchoscopic removal. |
