Abstract:Using the myocardial cells isolated from rabbit heart, the effect of ATP on Na~+-K~+-ATPase activity in the plasma membrane of anoxemic myocardial cell was observed. The results were as follows: The cytoprotective effect of ATP-mgCl_2 on anoxemic myocardial cell was superior to that of ATP. At 5, 10, 20, 30 minutes after anoxemia, the Na~+-K~+-ATPase activity decreased to 59.57, 44.64, 23.66 and 9.96% of control respectively. Administration of ATP-MgCl_2 could increase the ATPase activity (P<0.01), but ATP itself did not have the effect (P<0.05). The results mentioned above suggest that high-energy phosphate has significant cytoprotective effect on anoxemic myocadial cells and the effect of ATP-MgCl_2 is superior to that of ATP. The cytoprotective effect of ATP-MgCl_2 may be partly due to its effect of increasing Na~+-K~+-ATPase activity.
