Clinical observation on the treatment of stroke-associated pneumonia with acupoint catgut embedding at Shu-Mu points

Objective It is to observe the clinical effect of acupoint catgut embedding at Shu-Mu points on stroke-associated pneumonia(SAP).Methods 63 SAP patients admitted to the inpatient department of the Department of Acupuncture and Health,Guangdong Second Traditional Chinese Medical Hospital from January to December 2019 were randomly divided into an experimental group of 33 cases and a control group of 30 cases.Both groups were treated with conventional western medicine and pulmonary rehabilitation training,additionally,the experimental group was treated with acupoint catgut embedding at Shu-Mu points,and the control group was treated with ordinary acupuncture.The changes of infection indexesC-reactive protein(CRP),white blood cell count(WBC),neutrophil ratio(NE%)],imaging examination and clinical symptom score before and after treatment were observed in the two groups,and the clinical efficacy of the two groups was compared.Results After treatment,the levels of WBC,NE%,and CRP in the two groups were significantly lower than those before treatment(all P<0.05),and the levels of NE%and CRP in the experimental group were significantly lower than those in the control group after treatment(all P<0.05),there was no statistically significant difference in WBC levels before and after treatment between the two groups(P>0.05).After treatment,the symptom and sign scores of the two groups were significantly lower than those before treatment(P<0.05),the symptom and sign scores of the experimental group were significantly lower than those of the control group after treatment(P<0.05).The total effective rate of the experimental group was 93.94%(31/33),the rate of the control group was 73.33%(22/30),the therapeutic effect of the experimental group was significantly better than that of the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion Acupoint catgut embedding at Shu-Mu points can significantly improve the clinical symptoms and signs,reduce the level of inflammatory factors,and promote the recovery in the patients with stroke-related pneumonia.
