Abstract:Objective To explore the effect of pocket book combined with the chant of auricular acupoints in improvement of a basic ability to locate auricular acupoints in nurses who are taking a standardised training scheme, hence to develop a new training method for the clinical teaching. Methods A chant and a pocket book of auricular acupoints were developed through group discussion,literature review, brainstorming, etc. A total of 60 nursing graduates working in a western medicine hospital in Guangzhou were enrolled in the study. The 30 nurses recruited in 2018 were assigned to the control group, and the 30 nurses enrolled in 2019 were assigned to the trial group. In the control group, conventional training method was applied, and the method of auricular acupoints chanting plus pocket book was adopted in the trial group. The mastery of theory, performance, and accuracy and time of auricular acupoints locating of two groups were assessed one week later. Results The scores of theoretical and operational evaluations in the trial group was significantly higher than that of the control group and the time of locating auricular acupoints was significantly shorter in the trial group. The performance score of accurate locating was significantly higher than that of the control group(P<0.05). Conclusions The pocket book combined together with the chant of auricular acupoints improves the ability of the auricular acupoints locating in nurses who are taking a standardised nursing training scheme. This training method is worth to be promoted and applied in the clinical teaching.
