Abstract: | The genotoxicity of 5 hair dyes made in China and their main ingredient P-phenylenediamine were studied with the Salmonella mutagenicity test (Ames Test) and micronucleus test of polychromatic erythrocytes in mouse bone marrow. Results from Ames test showed that 4 hair dyes and their main ingredient p-phenylenediamine were mutagenic to strains TA97 and TA98 with S9.It indicated that the genotoxicity of hair dyes have relevance to p-phenylenediamine.Results from micronucleus test showed that only 1 hair dye at 21.62mg/kg micronucleus frequencies was significantly higher than the negative control group (U=2.61,P<0.01). |
