Abstract:【Objective】 Effects of cerebrum exposure to alpha irradiation from radionuclide235U on physical growth and de-velopment of neonatal rats were studied. 【Methods】 Neonatal rats were irradiated with one single injecting 2μl alpha radionuclidefrom235U into the left lateral ventricle of the rat brain at postnatal 1(<24h) at a dose of 0、1、5、10μg of235U,respectively. These ratswere observed for the early physical growth and development. 【 Results】 In the irradiation group, weight increase was lower anddifferent significantly from those in the controls. Of groups there were not statistically in the radio of brain weight/body weight, bodyhair sprouted, pinna erected, incisor eruption. The retardation in irradiation group was found and different significantly from those in thecontrols such the age of acquisition in physiologic markers as eye opening, movement and coordination function and activty as swim-ming. For most parameters there was a dose-dependent effect. 【 Conclusions】 The neonatal rats having cerebrum exposure to alphairradiation by235U showed delayed growth and abnormal development.
