Abstract:Objective:To investigate influence of family history of allergic diseases on exhaled nitric oxide (ENO) levels for children with asthma ih different clinical stages. Methods: 155 children (6-14 years old) with asthma in Shandong provincial hospital from March 2012 to December 2012 were selected, including 30 cases in acute exacerbation stage, 67 cases in duration stage, and 58 cases in remission stage. The patients in the three groups were divided to different subgroups based on the family history of the allergic diseases, and then their ENO levels were detected, respectively. Results : 1. The ENO levels of the children in the acute exacerbation stage were significantly higher than those of the cases in the duration and remission stages. 2. For the children in the acute exacerba- tion stage, the ENO levels of those with the family history were higher than those of the cases without the family history, and the differ-ences were statistically significant (P〈0.05) ; whereas the differences among the children with or without the family history in the du-ration and remission stages were all not statistically significant ( all P〉0.05). Conclusions : The ENO levels are higher for the asthma Children with the family history of the allergic diseases , which suggests they have more severe airway inflammations, than the latter.
