Utility of color kinesis technique to evaluate left ventricular regional wall motion after different methods of mitral valve replacement

Objective To evaluate the changes of left ventricular regional wall motion during systolic and diastolic phase by color kinesis(CK)technique after different mitral valve replacement.Methods Thirty Datients with chronic mitral regurgitation were divided into three groups,group A underwent conventional mitral valve replacement (MVR)(n=12),group B underwent MVR with preservation of posterior chorde tendineae alone(n=10),and group C underwent MVR with preservation of both anterior and posterior chorde tendineae(n=8).The apical four chamber view,two chamber view and parasternal bag axis view were recorded by HP Sonos 5500 imaging system with CK technique.Results MVR with preservation of both anterior and posterior chorde tendineae function was able to maintain or even improved left ventricular regional wall motion to the greatest extent.The beneficial efiects were not only present at the early postoperative period but also maintained to the late postoperative period.The beneficial effects of MVR with preservation of posterior chordae were mainly present at the late txastoperative period.Conclusions The CK technique offers a good method for quantitative analysis of left ventricular wall motion, and it can be used to postoperative following up.
