Expression and clinical significance of SATB2 in gastric cancer

Objective:To investigate the expression and clinical significance of SATB2 in gastric cancer.Methods:From June 2015 to June 2016,116 patients with gastric cancer surgical resection were enrolled in our hospital.The sections were treated by immunohistochemical SP method.The expression of SATB2 was determined according to the degree of coloration and the proportion of positive cells.The patients were followed up and their survival time was recorded.χ2 test and Cox risk regression analysis were used to determine the effect of SATB2 expression on the prognosis of patients with gastric cancer.Results:There were 92 patients with low expression of SATB2 and 24 patients with high expression of SATB2.The expression of SATB2 protein was not associated with gender,age,tumor size and other factors in gastric cancer patients,but also related to lymph node metastasis,distant metastasis and AJCC staging(P<0.05).The survival rate of patients within 2 years was 63.79%(74/116).The survival rate of SATB2 high expression group was 70.83%(17/24),and the survival rate of SATB2 low expression group was 61.96%(57/92).Cox regression analysis showed lymph node metastasis(HR=3.725,95%CI:1.994~6.532),distant metastasis(HR=5.223,95%CI:3.506~7.874),AJCC staging(HR=6.121,95%CI:4.996~9.542)affeced patient prognosis.SATB2 expression(HR=0.464,95%CI:0.203~0.835)was a protective factor for prognosis.Conclusion:SATB2 gene expression is associated with prognosis in patients with gastric cancer,and its expression is low in gastric cancer tissues,but patients with high expression have a better prognosis.Screening for SATB2 has certain reference significance for the clinical treatment and prognosis of patients.
