Treatment of central nervous system diseases is always a difficult problem in medical field.Traditional drugs can not prevent and cure the central nervous system diseases,such as acute or chronic central nervous system injury,Alzheimer's disease,Parkinson's disease and epilepsy.Medical scientists always dedicate themselves to the research and development of new drugs for central nervous system diseases.Short peptide drugs are hotspots of the research in recent years.The therapeutic value of short peptide durgs to central nervous system diseases has been confirmed,such as synthetic connexin 43 mimetic peptide,apolipoprotein E mimetic peptide,neurotrophic factor mimetic peptide,neural cell adhesion molecule mimetic peptide,metallothionein mimetic peptide and erythropoietin mimetic peptide.This paper focuses on short peptide drugs in use for treatment of central nervous system diseases.Recent progresses in this field have been reviewed.
