Abstract: | Isolated systolic hypertension is a risk factor for the development of stroke, heart attack, and left ventricular hypertrophy, which can result in eventual congestive heart failure. Recent studies have validated the benefits of treatment of isolated systolic hypertension in the elderly and have shown that treatment can reduce the risk for cardiovascular complications. An update on isolated systolic hypertension and the importance of detecting and treating are presented. |
