Abstract: | A 12-year-old girl presented with ptosis 10 days after falling onto glass that penetrated the frontotemporal region. The immediate ptosis and palpable mass was attributed to an undetected foreign body. CT demonstrated a radiopaque foreign body. During surgery, the foreign body removed was found to be a piece of glass from a soda bottle. The ptosis resolved completely within the next 2 weeks. A retained foreign body should be considered in any case of prolonged ptosis after penetrating ocular trauma, even when the entrance wound is remote. |
