Abstract:Objective To explore the deformation and stress changes in the blood flow field,vessel wall and aneurysm wall within a thoracic aortic hemangioma using flow-solid coupling analysis for a specific case to provide decision support for clinical prevention and treatment of hemangioma.Methods A 3D surface model for thoracic aortic hemangioma was formed by 3D threshold segmentation and 3D region growing segmentation with considerations on the flow-solid coupling between the blood and the vessel wall.Then the engineering software CATIA was used to optimize the smooth surface lines to obtain a 3D model of the hemangioma and its internal blood.The blood flow characteristics of the thoracic aortic hemangioma and the deformation and stress of the hemangioma tissue were obtained through flow-solid coupling calculation method.Results The blood flow had a significant impact on the hemangioma and the vascular junction,and the overall hemangioma tissues presented a"respiratory"reciprocal displacement variation;the maximum von-Mises stress was 75.2 kPa which was about 11.6%of the hemangioma bearing capacity(650 kPa);the maximum shear stress was about 41.7 kPa.Conclusion Fluid-solid coupling analysis proves to be efficient for predicting the risk site of thoracic aortic hemangioma,which can provide data support for the clinical diagnosis and treatment.Chinese Medical Equipment Journal,2021,42(2):12-16,22]
