Abstract:Objective To study the effect on mental development after treatment of neonatal convulsions in children with simple electroencephalogram abnormalities. Methods This study retrospectively analyzed the clinical data of 63 children with neonatal convulsions with simple electroencephalogram abnormalities diagnosed and treated in our hospital from January 2018 to January 2020, including 30 cases of standardized treatment and 33 cases of untreated. Convulsive seizures and neurodevelopmental indicators were compared between the treatment and non-treatment groups. Results After followed up for 1, the number of seizures in the treatment group was significantly lower than that in the non-treatment group (t=6.935, P<0.001). The adaptation (t=9.345,P<0.001), large exercise (t=2.436,P=0.018), fine motor (t=3.968,P<0.001), personal social ability (t=14.989,P<0.001), language ability(t=2.484,P=0.016), and development quotient (DQ) score in the treatment group (t=13.759,P<0.001) were significantly higher than these in the untreated group. Conclusion Timely treatment of neonatal convulsions with simple electroencephalogram abnormalities can reduce the number of neonatal seizures and has positive significance for intellectual development.
