Abstract:In recent years,multimedia teaching is a hot topic in college English teaching area with the increasing utility of mutimedia in English courses.So far,there have been more praises than critisms,however,many ideas merely touch upon the superficial level instead of conducting deep reflections.Multimedia is a means for education and the nature of English teaching still lies in language teaching.Overestimating the functions of multimedia will bring about side effects.The article discusses the misconceptions of multimedia teaching and proposes a couple of suggestions on properly using multimedia for college English teaching.
