Risk factors for multiple drug resistant bacteria infection in diabetic foot patients
Abstract:Objective To investigate the distribution of features and the present condition of drug resistance as well as the risk factors for infection of the diabetic foot with multi-drug resistant microorganisms(MDRMs) .Methods Amongst 102 diabetic pa-tients with evidence of infection of the foot who presented to Maoming People′ Hospital between January 2015 and June 2016 ,we choose 36 patients with infection of MDRMs as case group and 66 patients without infection of MDRMs as control group to investi-gate risk factors that might be predictive of multi-antibiotic resistance of the infecting organism .Results 39 MDRMs strains were i-solated from 36 patients in the case group ,among which the top three were Staphylococcus aureus (57 .1% ) ,Pseudononas aerugino-sa (21 .4% ) ,E .col (14 .3% ) .Previous antibiotic therapy ,frequency of hospitalization above 2 times a year ,and duration of hospital stay were significant risk factors for infections with multidrug resistant microorganisms (P<0 .05) .Conclusion Previous antibiotic therapy ,frequency of hospitalization above 2 times a year ,and duration of hospital stay were closely related with infections of dia-betic foot wound with multidrug resistant microorganisms .
Keywords:Diabetic foot  Infection  Mmultidrug resistant microorganisms  Risk factors
