| Abstract: | A sensitive enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) is described for detection of IgA antibodies to mumps virus. Specific mumps IgA antibodies could be demonstrated in 10 patients with mumps virus infections. No specific mumps IgA antibodies (titres <1/40) were detected by ELISA in 46 control sera (healthy adults; hospitalised patients with various other diseases). The potential application of the ELISA mumps IgA technique in serodiagnosis of mumps infections is discussed. |
