| Abstract: | Malignant nonseminomatous germ cell tumors (NSGCT) rarely metastasize to the heart. The first such case presenting with syncope is described. Eight previously described cases of NSGCT with intracaval metastasis to the heart are reviewed and the literature to date is discussed. Transesophageal echocardiography is the diagnostic study of choice and treatment consists primarily of platinum-based chemotherapy followed by surgical resection of residual deposits. |
