Expression of Snail Protein in Patients with Osteosarcoma and Its Clinical Significance

Objective To observe the expression of Snail protein in osteosarcoma tissues,and to explore its roles in the development and progression of the disease.Methods Immunohistochemical assay（SP method） was used to detect the expressions of Snail in 42 osteosarcoma tissues and 10 osteochondroma tissues.Results ①Expression rate of Snail protein in osteosarcoma tissues was higher than that in osteochondroma tissues,and the differences were significant（P0.01）.②Expression of Snail protein in osteosarcoma were closely related with soft tissue involvement,Enneking stage,and lung metastases（P0.01）,but not related with gender,age,mass site and Dahlin types（P0.05）.③The survival rate of osteosarcoma patients with Snail protein was significant lower than that in osteosarcoma patients without Snail protein,and the difference was significant（P0.01）.Conclusion The overexpression of Snail in Osteosarcoma tissues indicates that it plays an important role in development and progression of osteosarcoma and predicts poor prognosis.
