Abstract: | The aetiology and pathophysiology of the complex clinical condition rhabdomyolysis are outlined here Rhabdomyolysis can be caused by a number of factors including excessive muscle activity, direct muscle injury, ischaemia and excesses of temperature Specific nursing care strategies, focusing on the pathophysiology of the condition, are proposed The priorities of care should centre on maintaining patient safety with monitoring of cardiovascular and respiratory systems and assessment of renal function |
