Research progress of differentiating and treating atherosclerosis from phlegm and blood stasis

Atherosclerosis is closely related to the occurrence of cardiovascular diseases,and the occurrence of myocardial infarction is also caused by it.According to the system of treatment based on syndrome differentiation and the holism concept and thinking of traditional Chinese medicine,it is argued that phlegm and blood stasis are both pathogenic factors as well as pathological products,which are of great significance in the occurrence,development and outcome of atherosclerosis and run through its entire pathological process.The mechanism of anti-atherosclerosis lies in regulating the blood lipid level and autophagy,stabilizing atherosclerotic plaques,regulating the balance between coagulation and fibrinolytic activity,and protecting the vascular endothelium.
