| Abstract: | Serum phosphate can be measured accurately, precisely and economically using an initial rate spectrophotometric procedure. This procedure measures the formation of the unreduced phosphomolybdate heteropolyacid complex at 334 nm. The concentration of polyvinylpyrrolidone Mr = 40,000 has been optimised to allow the determination of serum inorganic phosphate on a discrete analyser, the Eppendorf Epos. Possible interference due to hyperlipaemia, high bilirubin or high protein content of the serum samples is discussed. |
