| Abstract: | The serum level of prostate specific antigen (PSA) was determined using radioimmunoassay in 60 patients with benign prostate hyperplasia (BPH). The PSA relationship to gland volume and age was studied. The results showed that the content of PSA rised with the gland volume and age increasing. The main influencing factor of age was the gland volume expanded with age. The effects of gland volume and age on PSA can be reduced after application of prostate specific antigen density (PSAD) in different age groups. In the differential diagnosis of BPH andprostate cancer. combined use of PSA and PSAD is better than the use of PSA alone. |
