Abstract: | The extracts of stem bark, leaves and flowers of Goniothalamus grandiflorous were screened against six Gram positive and six Gram negative bacteria, a parasite, and four fungi. All extracts were found to be active against all the bacteria and some fungi. The flower and the leaf extracts exhibited a superior level of antibacterial activity. The flower and bark extracts were active against T. mentagrophytes. Isoaltholactone isolated from the leaves, was the active principle and exhibited a good level of activity against the tested organisms. |
