A case of lateral ventricle solid hemangioblastoma and literature review

Objective To investigate the clinical characteristics and treatment of solid hemangioblastoma(HBS)in the lateral ventricle.Methods The clinical data of one case of lateral ventricular solid angioblastoma with the youngest age at home and abroad were analyzed retrospectively,and the relevant literature were reviewed.Results The patient was a 15-year-old female;she had intermittent headaches for 3 months and worsened headaches with fever for 1 week.The physical examination showed no abnormal neurological signs.MRI of the head showed that the body of the right ventricle was irregularly shaped and mixed with signal shadows,and the lesions on the enhanced scan showed obvious enhancement.The tumor was completely removed by surgery.The postoperative pathological diagnosis was HBS.There was no von Hippel-Lindau disease gene(VHL)mutation in the genetic examination of the child and his parents.The headache and fever symptoms disappeared after the operation.Conclusions Solid HBS in the supratentorial ventricle is a rare disease.The first symptom is headache caused by increased intracranial pressure(ICP),with or without nausea and vomiting.The first choice for treatment is surgery.Because of the abundant blood supply of tumor,preoperative vascular embolization can be used to reduce the risk of intraoperative bleeding.
