Abstract:Objective To investigate the correlation between the serum concentration of VEGF-C and prognosis in patients with unresectable advanced pancreatic cancer. Methods Thirty-five patients with unresectable advanced pancreatic cancer were admitted from Aug.2006 to Feb.2008.The clinical data including age, karnofsky performance scale(KPS),tumor size and serum concentration of CA19-9 were reviewed. The serum concentration of VEGF-C was detected by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA).Survival rate was analyzed by Kaplan-Meier method, univariance and multiplevariance analysis were performed by Cox regression. Results The mean serum concentration of VEGF-C was(1309.23±542.05)ng/L.In Cox regression,KPS,serum concentration of VEGF-C and CA19-9 were correlated with prognosis in unresectable pancreatic cancer. In groups of VEGF-C≤1 280 ng/L and 1 280 ng/L,the median survival was 11.26 and 6.29 months, the 1y-survival rates were 50.0% and 5.9%,respectively(χ2=9.4000,P=0.0022).Conclusion The serum concentration of VEGF-C is correlated with prognosis of unresectable advanced pancreatic cancer.
