Efficacy of retinal veinocclusion treated with prostaglandin E1 incorporated in lipid micropheres

Objective：To observe the efficacy of prostaglandin E1 incorporated in lipid micropheres for the treatment of retinal vein occlusion.Methods：The improvement in the visual acuity of patients who had been treated for retinal vein occlusion treated with prostaglandin E1 incorporated in lipid micropheres was compared with that of a control group during the duration of the treatment period.Results：After 1～6 months of follow-up, visual acuity for the 16 patients in the treatment group was ≥0.5 with an effective rate of 76.2% while visual acuity for the 6 patients in the control group was ≥0.5 with an effective rate of 34.7% (χ2=6.45;P=0.05). The percentages of improvement in vision were 81.0% and 41.2% in the treatment and control groups, respectively (χ2=6.41;P＜0.05).Conclusion：Prostaglandin E1 incorporated in lipid micropheres is effective for treating retinal vein occlusion.
