Abstract: | Sixty-five severely injured patients with hypertension on arrival at the Accident and Emergency Department were studied. Forty-eight had head injuries. In children there were significantly higher diastolic blood pressures in those admitted unconscious than in those conscious on admission. The possible cause of this is discussed. There was a fall in both the systolic and diastolic blood pressures of all patients after treatment and rest for some hours. |
