| Abstract: | Objective To explore the effect of Panax notoginseng（Burk1） F.H.Chen on type 2 diabetic rats.Methods Type 2 diabetic rat model was developed by feeding high calorie-diet and injection of low dose streptozotocin.The selected rats were randomly divided into four groups,including normal control,diabetic control,diamicron-treated group and notoginseng-treated group.Blood glucose was determined every week for each group.Insulin,insulin resistance index（ISI）,total cholesterol,total triglyceride,leptin,FFA,TNF-α and MDA were tested by using commercial kits.Results Compared to non-treated diabetic group,notoginseng treatment significantly reduced the levels of FBG,Lep and MDA in serum or tissue,but increased insulin sensitivity index（ISI）.Meanwhile,notoginseng also markedly attenuated pathological injury in pancreas.Conclusion Notoginseng exerts effective protection against type 2 diabetic rats. |
