Abstract: | Staging prostate cancer is a systematic classification of the extent of disease based on clinical and pathological criteria. Despite general acceptance of the TNM staging system, a lot of controversy and uncertainty with respect to staging still exists. This paper gives an overview of different staging modalities and emphasizes the need for incorporation of prognostic factors, such as tumour grade and volume, in the staging system.Correspondence to: G.
