Strahlentherapie des Melanoms

The advanced stages of melanoma are a challenging issue for the dermatological oncologist. Radiation therapy is an integral component of interdisciplinary disease management. Irradiation achieves reasonable tumor control in inoperable disease and improved tumor control in incompletely resected lesions. Radiotherapy of regional lymph nodes in high-risk patients reduces the risk for relapse and may also lead to improved survival. Radiotherapy alone achieves eye retention and cure in more than 80% of uveal melanoma. Radiotherapy is the most important treatment modality in palliative care.
