| Abstract: | Elsholtzia splendens is a traditional Chinese medicine.It was recorded on Chinese Pharmacopeia before 1995 and renamed molsa chinensis afterwards.In recent years,research on the development and application of Elsholtzia splendens was ignored.Medicinal value of Elsholtzia splendens was discussed by comparing the main chemical compositions and their pharmacological properties of Elsholtzia splendens and molsa chinensis.Different from molsa chinensis,Elsholtzia ketone is the main constituent of Elsholtzia splendens.With broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity,elsholtzia ketone can be used to prevent influenza.At present,research of Elsholtzia splendens is focused on the heavy metal pollution soil management.It is worth to expand antibacterial spectrum and improve antibacterial effect of main chemical compositions.Formulation development of Elsholtzia splendens and its comprehensive application in medicine,chemical and cosmetics are worthy of attention. |
