Abstract:The pontine and mesencephalic afferent connections to the central nucleus of the amygdala have been studied by means of the retrograde transport of horseradish peroxidase (HRP). In the pons, labeled neurons were consistently found in the dorsal raphe nucleus and the parabrachial nucleus. In the mesencephalon, labeled cells were consistently found in the ventral tegmental area, the substantia nigra and the peripeduncular nucleus.
