Abstract:Although Uncle Tom's Cabin and Uncle Tom's Children, written by two different ethnic writers, were published in two different times, they,to some extent, can be deemed as representations of the track of development of race relations in the American society through describing the interaction between the Black and the White in different periods. From them,we can see that in the time of slavery, the blacks, treated as "properties" of the whites, got some sympathies and help from some whites besides their sufferings as slaves, but after the emancipation the blacks encountered more aggravated discrimination and persecution. The race relations were totally under the shadow of hatred and violence.
Keywords:Uncle Tom's Cabin  Uncle Tom's Children  situation of the blacks  racism
