The esthetic effect of resin infiltration combined with microabrasion or at-home bleaching for the treatment of dental fluorosis

Objective:To evaluate the combination approach of resin infiltration with microabrasion or at-time bleaching in treating dental fluorosis.Methods:24 subjects with 80 fluorotic teeth(TSIF=4)were randomly assigned to 2 groups(n=12 subjects with 40 teeth).The teeth in one group were treated by resin infiltration combined with microabration,those in the other group were treated by resin infiltration combined with at-home bleaching.Standardized digital photographs were obtained before treatment(T0),1 week after treatment(T2)and 6 months(T3)respectively.Color difference(ΔE)between sound and fluorotic areas was calculated photographically using Image analysis software.One-way ANOVA of repeated measures was used to analyze the data.Results:The effect of combination approach of resin infiltration combined with at-home bleaching was more significant than that in resin infiltration combined with microabrasion group(P<0.05),the effect remained stable within 6 months.Conclusion:Resin infiltration combined with at-home bleaching can greatly improve the appearance of dental fluorosis.
