Correlation analysis between MMP-9, vimentin expressed in brain gliomas and patient' s prognosis

Objective To explore the effect of MMP-9 and vimentin protein on prognosis of glioma. Methods From April 2017 to August 2020,116 cases glioma patients admitted to our hospital were selected as observation group, during the same period, 68 cases of craniocerebral injury patients admitted to our hospital were selected as control group. The results of immunohistochemistry, the expression levels of MMP-9 and vimentin mRNA and the prognostic factors of glioma patients were compared between the two groups. Results Immunohistochemical results showed that the positive rates of MMP-9 and Vimentin were 65.5%, 73.3% in the observation group and 10.3%, 17.6% in the control group, there was significant difference in the expression of MMP-9 and vimentin between the two groups(P<0.05). The relative expression levels of MMP-9 and vimentin mRNA in the observation group were significantly higher than those in the control group(P<0.001). The relative expression levels of MMP-9 and Vimentin mRNA were correlated with the case grade of glioma, and the relative expression levels of MMP-9 and vimentin mRNA in high-grade glioma were higher than those in low-grade glioma(P<0.05). Logistic regression analysis showed that mMP-9 and vimentin mRNA expression levels were key factors affecting the prognosis of glioma patients(P<0.05). Kaplan-meier survival analysis indicated that the expression of MMP-9 and vimentin was closely related to the cumulative overall survival rate of glioma patients(P=0.0171, 0.0315). Patients with negative expression of MMP-9 and vimentin had better prognosis. Conclusion MMP-9 and vimentin are independent related factors affecting the prognosis of glioma patients, the prognosis of glioma patients with low expression of MMP-9 and vimentin is better.
