Study on the Current Alloration Situations of Large Medical Eguipment in China and Related Health Policies

The purpose of this study is to analyze the allocation and management situations of large medical equipment in China and explore some feasible related policies to better serve the regional health planning now carrying out in our counry. Method: Literature review method was employed to summarize the characteristics of the current situations in the allocation and management of large medical equipment. Based on the findings, suggestions was made on the management. Results: Five characteristics can be found about the present allocation situations. They are: (1) the number of the large medical equipment grows rapidly, (2)the quality of large medical equipment is poor, (3)the allocation equity is not good; (4)the utilization efficiency is in low level; (5) the macro - management systems have been established, but the implementing power is not very strong. Conclusions: Regional allocation Plan for the large medical equipment must be prepared at once and related health policies must be implemented through out the management practice. Concerted health regulation policies should be developed to strengthen the management of large medical equipment and improve the equity of the allocation. Technical evaluation on the equipment should be established to give guide to the governing and allocation practice, Moreovre, the behovior of supplier-induced must be forbidden to reduce the waste of resources.
